SSH, or Secure Shell, is a network protocol employed to connect to a server and carry out various tasks via a command line. The protocol is employed by many experienced users, because the information transmitted over it is encrypted, so it can't be intercepted on the way by a 3rd party. SSH access may be employed for a number of things with regards to the type of website hosting account. With a shared hosting account, for instance, SSH is one of several ways to import/export a database or to upload a file in case the web server permits it. If you have a virtual or a dedicated server, SSH can be used for just about anything - you could install software or restart specific services such as the web server or the database server which run on the machine. SSH is employed mostly with UNIX-like Platforms, but there are clients that permit you to use the protocol if your computer system is working with a different OS too. The connection is established on TCP port 22 by default and the remote web server always listens for incoming connections on that port even though lots of providers change it for security reasons.

If the hosting plan which you’ve picked throughout the signup process includes SSH access by default, you will be able to activate this function with just a mouse click from your Hepsia CP. SSH access is included as standard with some of our semi-dedicated server plans, while with others you can include it via the hosting Control Panel if needed - even just for the current month. Either way, you can activate and de-activate the function with only one mouse click via the SSH section of the Control Panel. In the same location, you will see the server name, the port number and the username required to connect to our platform. You shall also find a box where you may type in the password which you want to use, because it does not need to be the same as the one you use to log into the Control Panel. For better security, you could also change it as much as you require. An extra function after SSH access is enabled shall be the ability to connect to your hosting space via SFTP through any FTP client which supports this type of connections.

SSH Telnet in VPS Servers

When you buy a new VPS server from us, it'll feature full root access and you shall be able to connect to the server and to control everything via an SSH console. The function is included by default with all plans, so you will not have to allow or upgrade anything. Your web server will be set up shortly after you buy it and the minute you receive the Welcome e mail with the login info, you can connect using the server’s main IP address and start working. Since the VPS is a software emulation of a dedicated server and is separated from the other accounts inside the physical machine, there won't be any restrictions with regards to the commands that you can use. You'll have full root access, so that you may install and run any app which can work on a Linux hosting server, manage files, folders and databases or start/stop/reboot the whole machine or any software running on it.
